Outdoor installation

When installing the QX-C300 Series wireless LAN access point outdoors, refer to the following installation examples. (For more information, please refer to the Operator's Manual.)

屋外設置について

●Installation in a place exposed to direct sunlight

屋外設置について

※1
After connecting cables, take appropriate waterproofing measures.
※2
When installing with the access point facing downward in a place that exposes the back to direct sunlight, attach a sunshade (non-metal) to the back.
Make sure that heat from the sunshade is not transmitted to the main unit, including the mounting plate that comes with the unit.

≪Installation precautions≫

Products other than Sharp genuine optional products are not covered by Sharp’s product warranty. Handle these products according to the warranty of the manufacturer and dealer.
Additionally, be very careful when doing installation, as malfunctions caused by the installation method or by problems with attached or connected products are also not covered by Sharp warranty.
Do not paint access points or antennas. Paint properties can affect signal conditions and also cause malfunctions due to, for example, degraded strength or degraded heat dissipation performance. (Malfunctions due to paint void the warranty.)

Lightning rods:

Install antenna lightning rods between external antennas and the unit. According to the Radio Act, the 5.3GHz band (W53) and 5.6GHz band (W53) require a total loss of 0 to 6db. Moreover, do not attach any other parts, as doing so may violate the Radio Act.

Solar shield:

When the front of the unit (the side with the SHARP logo) is exposed to direct sunlight, attaching a solar shield is recommended. Additionally, when suspended from a ceiling or when the front of the unit (the side with the SHARP logo) faces away from the sun, attaching a solar shield is not necessary.

≪Installing an outdoor power source≫

When installing the access point outdoors, use an outdoor use power source unit.
The QB-D300 AC adapter (sold separately) is designed for indoor use and cannot be used for outdoor installation.

  • Installing and building an outdoor use power source unit must be done by a certified electrician. Have a certification technician do installation work.
  • QX-C300 Series DC power input has a voltage of DC12V and current more than 4A.
  • For the AC-DC power source unit output rating for the power source unit, select a waterproof type that meets access point specifications.
  • In the case of an outdoor power source unit, install the AC-DC power source as well as the earth leakage breaker, low-voltage arrestor, and low-voltage current limiting fuse in a weatherproof and waterproof box, as shown in the diagram below.

●Preventing mounting plate and mounting spacer electric corrosion

The parts below are SUS304 steel.
To prevent electric corrosion, it is recommended that the following parts as well as the screws and parts used to attach them be stainless steel. (This is especially important when the access point is installed in an outdoor place exposed to rain.)

●Installation in cold regions

Places exposed to
salt or corrosive gas
  • When installing in a place exposed to salt such as along a seashore or a place exposed to corrosive gas such as a hot spring region, put the equipment in a weather resistance box and then install.

●Waterproofing (use commercially sold parts)

When installing the equipment indoors in a place that might be exposed to water or when installing outdoors, do the following waterproofing measures.
(For more information, refer to the Operator’s Manual.)

  • Use commercially sold waterproof tape to waterproof part connections.
  • Improper waterproofing risks water penetration that can damage the equipment.
  • When applying waterproof tape, first clean the application area of dust and dirt, and then wrap the tape so that it contains no air and thoroughly fuse it to the part by pressing with the fingers.
